Wednesday stuff

1. Congratulations to Bobby Cox on breaking one of the longest-held records in baseball. May the record continue to be extended.

2. Bye-bye, Hastert.

3. Lisa Marie Presley records yet another unwanted duet with her dad. Forbidden Broadway parodied Natalie Cole's version of this gimmick as "Unforgivable." And at least she'd shown a lick of talent in her life before recording the duet. Also, the best duet with Elvis covering "In the Ghetto" was by Eric Cartman.

4. Painkiller Jane cancelled; no one notices.

5. RIAA: Deadbeats.

6. Not only can any moron become a Wikipedia editor (a long-known fact), but it looks like any moron can become a Wikipedia admin. That, or maybe they just recruit very special morons.

7. Amazon's latest DVD sale: Classic Sci-FI DVDs, with 50% off a bunch of them, like The Day the Earth Stood Still, Night of the Comet, Mad Max, Lost in Space (the show), and Willow.

8. How to cold-brew iced coffee.

9. Jose Offerman: Officially nuts. Seriously. I mean, charging the mound after dropping the bat is one thing. Charging it with the bat, using it as a weapon? No fucking way.

10. Stuff Magazine will be cancelled and only exist as a section within Maxim. Which only makes me wonder what difference there was in the first place (and no, I don't buy the ones listed in the article). Both were pretty much about the pinups of celebrities (or pseudo-celebs), with crappy articles thrown in. Will the "Stuff" section of Maxim be where they put crappier articles? Cheesecakier pinups?

We binged the series the other day. A few thoughts: 1. In many ways, this was as much a show from the '90s as a current show; we not only had Picard…
