Mid-Week Amazon Deals: Blu-Rays galore (Doctor Who, action movies, etc)! And Alien Anthology, Xbox G - Si, and I like potatoes.
Mid-Week Amazon Deals: Blu-Rays galore (Doctor Who, action movies, etc)! And Alien Anthology, Xbox G
(Yesterday's post still has great deals on EA games, LEGO, MEGA, and Erector toys, Band of Brothers, Jane Austen movies, and more, while Monday's post has The Coen Brothers, Walking Dead, DC Animated films, and more video games and kitchen gadgets).

The Deal of the Day is Alien Anthology on Blu-Ray for $25.99 (64% off). That's just over $6 a movie, or $10 for the two movies you'll watch repeatedly, $4 for the thing you'll watch a few times because it's by David Fincher even if it's a terrible sequel, and $2 for the movie you'll watch once because it's written by Joss Whedon, directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet, and stars Ron Perlman, so how bad could it possibly be, right?

(Speaking of Joss, the underrated Atlantis: The Lost Empire is one of the few Disney flicks that has never had a Blu-Ray release. Sad.)

Other Movie and TV Deals:

There's a huge Blu-Ray sale, with a ton of sub-$5 and sub-$10 movies, with many at 50-75% off. We're not talking about a lot of A-list material here (although The Men That Stare at Goats is pretty solid), but there are guilty pleasures galore. Choices include Righteous Kill, Straight Talk, The Tie That Binds, Betsy's Wedding, Gross Anatomy (only $3.96), Wanted, Consenting Adults, Open Season 2, Big Business, Play it to the Bone, Michael Jackson: This is It, Camp Rock, and Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus, which I'm sure must have won an Emmy or three. There are a few hundred other films in the mix.

The Action and Adventure Blu-Ray sale includes 100 movies, most at 50% off or more. Highlights include The Dark Knight, Batman Begins, Sucker Punch, Ghostbusters, Full Metal Jacket, Point Break, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Logan's Run, Mortal Kombat, A Knight's Tale, and a two-pack of Last Man Standing and The Last Boy Scout (from Willis's "movies with 'Last' in their titles" period, of course).

And there's a BBC Blu-Ray Sale, with 16 items at 50% off or more. Highlights include Doctor Who, Sherlock, Frozen Planet, Torchwood, Being Human, and Life (down to $19.99, or 71% off).

You can get $5 off Prometheus on Blu-Ray when you purchase any of a selected group of Alien or Predator movies (not including the Deal of the Day, alas). Your best bet here is probably Predator 2, at $9.78.

Witchblade: The Complete Series is $16.49 (76% off) on DVD.

In video games, Zumba Fitness for the Xbox with Kinect is $16.79 (58% off), and Mass Effect 2 for the Xbox is $9.11 (54% off).

Darksiders 2 for PC is downloadable for $16.99 (66% off), and the Darksiders 2 DLC Season Pass for PC is $6.79 (66% off).

In kitchen gadgets, the Black and Decker 9-inch Electric Carving Knife is $9.96 (50% off), just in time for Thanksgiving.

The Ronco Showtime Rotisserie Platinum Edition is $139.99 (60% off, but really about $20 below other retailers after shipping).

At the lower end of the gadget spectrum, the Back To Basics Apple And Potato Peeler is $14.95 (50% off, but about $5 below other deals).

The Rachael Ray Porcelain 10-Piece Enamel II Nonstick Cookware Set is $84.90 in orange (35% off, but about $10 off others after shipping, still a nice deal for the set).

In toys, joining all the other constructible options from days past, K'Nex's Bowser's Castle is $33 (45% off, about $7 below other sellers).

And the Hamilton Beech 500-Watt Food Processor is $34.99 (42% off, about $14 below other sellers).

Finally, the Kindle Daily Deal is David Kennedy's Freedom From Fear: The American People in Depression and War, 1929-1945 for $2.99 (88% off).
