As some of you might remember, I've been walking every year in the BARCC Walk for Change as a part of
Team Venture.
I won't be able to walk this year, as I'm leaving for my trip to Milwaukee that day.
But the team will still be walking. You can see the entire team -- including
shadesong -- above, or, if you're looking for someone who is still looking to hit his goal, you can see
sindrian's page
here.
If you read me, there's a reasonable chance you know how important a charity BARCC is. For those who don't know, BARCC is the only provider of comprehensive rape crisis services in the greater Boston area. They provide free services to survivors, family members and the community. That is only possible through donations, and they rely on the Walk as one of their major sources of fundraising.
If you're wondering how your donations can help, here's a sampling of how various amounts can benefit BARCC:
$25 helps BARCC answer two hotline calls.
$75 pays for medical accompaniment to a hospital emergency room by a trained volunteer.
$200 supports the first three sessions of free counseling for survivors and their families.
$1,000 allows a new volunteer or intern to attend BARCC’s comprehensive training program.
So, if you're in a position to give, take a look at my teammates, and considering sponsoring one of them
