It's been a hectic day, one which was mostly spent moving offices (with no notice, but into a much, much better physical location), combined with some meetings. As for tabs I need to close:

1. David Cross gives it to Larry the Cable Guy.

2. Amazon's Videogame Deal of the Day is the Nintendo DS version of Balls of Fury for $12.99. To which I say, there's a BoF videogame? First I'd heard of it, and it's already hitting the discount section.

3. Not everyone is mourning former Archie publisher Richard Goldwater.

4. I do not suggest taking this approach with Comcast, but I have to admit, I understand the temptation. We blissfully dumped Comcast when we moved up here.

5. Find a lost wallet? You might be on tape.

6. There's a remake of The Killer coming up.

7. Google just bought Jaiku! Guess that means Yahoo has to buy Twitter.

8. Shock! The bricked iPhones have been hacked!

9. Good news: A new Warren Ellis comic. The bad news: It's from Avatar.

10. And finally, Alan Tudyk will be getting a new TV show (or at least a pilot).

OK, he needs a proof reader, but David Cross' letter fuckin' rocked.

Hopefully in the new pilot, Tudyk won't say a witty line and be killed immediately afterward, which seems to match his career trajectory so far (in the whole TWO movies I've seen him in).

NO!!!! BAD THOUGHT BAD THOUGHT!

(I never saw that episode; 'course, I've only seen one entire CSI ever, and that was last season's Lady Heather episode. I really want to see Wil Wheaton's episode, too: "My, name, is, Walter!")

Hi. I have a soft spot for Tudyk. I realized recently just how much he's worked: "oh, he was in that! And that!" And if I shaved my facial hair, I could probably manage a passable Wash impression...

"Nee-aarrrrr..."

;-)

(I saw that film with a married couple I'm friends with. I loved the husband's reaction: "I may admit to seeing that movie, but I won't admit to liking it." Meaning he likely liked it...)

Yeah, but just wait until they turn it into the film Bluth.

I've never understood why people think Larry the Cable Guy is a comedy genius. The only time I've ever laughed at anything he's said was when he was being interviewed on radio and the announcer asked him something that shocked him so badly he actually broke character for an instant.

Hmm; I recognize that David Cross letter from a while ago. I wonder if it's an updated letter.

Thank you! I thought I was insane for a second there. It's at least a year or more old, isn't it?

An attorney drama could be good or bad (I'd figured I didn't need any more doctor shows before Scrubs and House came along, so I'm not going to make any assumptions until I hear more).

I guess it's just that for me, lawyer shows are crap - because they aren't written like it actually happens, and if they are? they don't last...

Why despite adoring James Spader and Candace Bergen and William Shatner, I don't watch Boston Legal... Law shows make my skin crawl.

And yeah, I've never watched a SINGLE law & order *anything* episode.
:P

Avatar is a pretty good publisher man...despite all their T & A and Lady Death.

They also publish Garth Ennis' creator-owned projects, Steven Grant creator owned projects, and I'm not a Zombie fan, but those Living Dead comics aren't bad.

This would be Warren's like 10th series with Avatar. They published his Apparat thing too.

Currently he also has Doktor Sleepless and Black Summer. I happen to have become a HUGE fan of Juan Jose Ryp. I can't wait to see him draw Green Lantern or Captain America one day. Ivan Rodriguez on Sleepless is hot too.

I gotta say I don't like Mike Wolfer or Raul Caceres' art though, so I'll be passing on this particular series.

You know...Alan Moore has done some pretty awesome stuff with Avatar as well. Yugoth Cultures is amazing...and he's working on a series being drawn by Jacen Burrows right, that'd be [info]jacen.

Meh. I did like Apparat, but otherwise (with the possible exceptions of the original Strange Kiss and The Boyz), the entire publishing philosophy of Avatar seems to be "where big name comic writers dump crappy ideas that some folks will buy just because big names are attached to them." And that applies to Ennis, Ellis, and Moore, imho. It's better than when they had the F13 license and let Pulido blow it, but not by much.

And yes, Avatar has had some pretty art, but without a story behind it, that doesn't matter much to me.
