1. Crappy start to the day so far, which either indicates a downward spiral (and not the happy fun kind that involves Trent Reznor singing about fucking you like an animal, either) or that things can only get better.

2. There were, at least, fresh bagels in the break room this morning.

3. The DVD release of Season 2 of the Tick has been announced! Spoon! But it's missing "Alone Together" (the Galactus episode). Boo!

4. Speaking of The Tick, while at the Harvard Square New England Comics yesterday, I found the Captain Liberty action figure in the bargain bin! Yay, Liz Vassey!

5. We all got haircuts yesterday at this place. Intergalactic Master Stylists indeed!

6. Poison has a cover album! And it features the "real" Poison lineup -- Bret, CC, Rikki, and Bobby. With covers of stuff like "You don't Mess Around with Jim" and "Just What I Needed," I'm so there.

6.5 Seriously. Don't knock Poison. Flesh and Blood remains one of my all-time favorite albums.

7. Electronic Jewish Prayer Keychain! How the hell is this not in the Archie McPhee catalog?

8. In the interest of trying to find a browser with faster HTML rendering than Safari and fewer memory leaks/more stability than Firefox, I've also been playing with Camino, Omniweb, Shiira, and Opera. Annoyingly, not one of them is a perfect browser. Camino wins on the stability and memory issues, but offers no forms autofill or extensibility. Shiira and Opera are simply not stable enough (although I adore the features of Opera). Omniweb is bulky, and has weak autofill. My perfect browser is still Firefox's extensibility, Omniweb's rendering, Camino's stability and memory footprint, and Safari's form autofill. Give me all of those, and I'm a loyal customer for life.

9. As for my Mets, let's just say that I'm having horrible flashbacks to the Art Howe years. Last night was ugly, as was this entire series. At least the starting pitching has been solid (even if there's nothing to show for it).

10. Finally, Rep. Tom Feeney, a Florida Congressman on the take by the RIAA and the MPAA wants to cut funding to colleges unless they stop file sharing on their networks (because universities should be, you know, cops). I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and assume that this idiotic idea is purely the result of the fact that he kowtows to those who have bought him, and not because he's actually thought the issues through.

Harvard Square New England Comics - Damn and blast, I *knew* I'd missed a stop on my Boston mission on Monday. It *was* raining torrents when I was there, though, so I can be forgiven for wanting to stay inside The Garage at Newbury Comics instead.

Must explore further.

And yes, *do* concentrate on Mets pitching, since that will always be a pivotal factor.

I'll have to check both of them out.

Luckily for the Mets, the Braves have decided to revisit their old "If It Weren't For Hank, No One Would Come To Our Games At All!" years, so the Mets lead in the division is pretty safe for now.

True. And good teams (which both of them are) should, in theory, right themselves. The questions is whether the Phillies will be in first place when they do.

8. Give me all of those, and I'm a loyal customer for life.

Netscape just released a beta of Navigator 9 for Mac.... *ducks and runs*

9. Last night was ugly, as was this entire series.

The Phillies are good at beating teams in the NL East on the road. Problem is, they suck at home and against any other team in MLB. I'm pretty sure that 5-game lead is still safe.

Although, how the hell Hamels gave up that string of homers is a complete mystery. The kid just doesn't do things like that. (His reaction afterwards was, apparently, "*shrug* Hey, it happens.")

*nod* Two homes was a stretch. And much as I love Paul Lo Duca, he's not the guy I expect the power from. Just a weird fluke.

(As to Netscape, I've never been a huge fan, and this version still seems a little bloated).

While I haven't used OmniWeb, I've played with Opera, Shiira, and Camino. I like Camino and I really liked Siira. Opera didn't (as I recall) make much of an impression on me, but I think by that time I was so frustrated with Safari being an asshat that I was willing to take anything that wasn't Safari.

I usually use Camino as my primary browser and use Firefox for stuff (like gmail and my school's secure apps site) that just won't work with Camino. For some reason, the spoofing agent on CamiTools doesn't seem to want to work that well. Have you had any problems/issues with that?

I really, really need a good autofill in my browser. The only ones that work beautifully are the Safari and IE (of all things). The Google Toolbar implementation in Firefox has been my (mostly unwilling) choice since dumping Safari, but Camino doesn't even have that much, alas. It'd driving me nuts.

I've only played with Camino 1.5 for a day or so, and haven't had a chance to really experiment to see where the other issues (like spoofing) might spring up.

But does it have the Mole Men episode that was left out of the Season 1 set?

Ummmm... $45+ haircuts? Sorry but with that sort of pricing they should be on Newbury Street. I've only once had a haircut in that price range, and that was for my sister's wedding years ago.

I usually go to the little place on the flip side of the Garage, near Herrels Ice cream, a lot cheaper and they do a good job.

I get my hair cut three or four times a year, and I've found that a good cut is worth the money (whereas the cheaper cuts have usually been worth less than what I paid, as I'll need a new cut sooner, and I'll spend the same in the course of a year).

The downside of posting about a Jewish prayer keychain on Friday is that it is likely the Jews won't read about it until Saturday night.

Motley Crue PWNS Poison and Mick Mars is uglier than anyone I've ever seen.

Crue was great in their day, and Poison owes a lot of their success to them. But I still prefer more Poison songs.

I was ALL over the Poison covers album, then I noticed more than half the album is b-sides that were released on a b-sides album or on covers albums I already own.

Bret Michaels rocks forever though. Neil < Michaels.

YET...
Sixx > almost everyone.

Then again?
CC > almost everyone

My gawd if Nikki Sixx and CC Deville ever teamed up and got say Jani Lane along for the ride? MAGIC!

There are a lot of re-releases, but I didn't manage to get all of them, so I'm still psyched.

And yeah, that would be a hell of a supergroup. :-)

Oh and I guess The Tick DVDs will follow a pattern of one ommited episode because "we have some shitty shitty stupid lazy lawyers over here" (not a direct quote ;].)
